gnome-mime-data software package provides base MIME and Application database for GNOME., you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-mime-data
gnome-mime-data is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-mime-data package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-mime-data *
You will get with gnome-mime-data package name, version, architecture and description in a table
